Microsoft Inspire

Since 1999, Microsoft has partnered with us to produce Inspire. Partners converge on a new North American city each year to build relationships with peers and Microsoft counterparts, gain valuable business knowledge, and exchange innovative ideas.

Microsoft’s Inspire is the premier annual gathering for Microsoft’s global partner community. The 2017 four-day conference in Washington, D.C. attracted 17,950 attendees from 141 countries.

The scale of the event and all that it offers is extensive. To put our scope in numbers, CRG collaborated with our clients and supplier partners and managed the logistics for 3 keynotes, 25 general sessions, 193 breakout sessions, 563 interactive sessions and workshops, 600+ side meetings, and one final attendee celebration at National’s Park, featuring Carrie Underwood.

In 2017, the city-wide takeover began at both the Washington Dulles International Airport and Reagan National Airport, where the CRG team deployed convenient terminal check-in locations so attendees could pick up their event badge upon arrival. The event footprint spanned the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and the Verizon Center, with attendees accommodations at 49 surrounding hotels. Microsoft was in town, and it was hard to miss.

The core of our planning approach was to collaborate on strategies that infuse a “personal aspect” into the event to provide the 17,950 attendees with valuable partner-to-partner engagement. Named one of BizBash’s Most Innovative Meetings, we have helped advance that partner-to-partner engagement with innovative planning concepts across attendee experiences and infrastructure. The popular First-Time Attendee program was created to immerse Inspire’s first-timers into the existing partner community and maximize the value of their experience through orientation, sessions, and alumni mentors.

The Commons is the innovative approach to the traditional expo hall. It is a place where attendees eat, network, socialize, and consume content – from smaller ”TED-talk” type discussions to interactive sessions and live theater demos. We developed a roadmap through the Commons to connect partners with where they want to do business – to the products, content, and strategies to support it. The result provided partners with an extensive footprint to experience the event and an endless array of networking and meeting space. The Commons is the core of the partner engagement experience.
